Introductory Restorative Justice Sessions

These two to four hour sessions introduce the philosophy and practice of restorative justice and share the history of using restorative practices in juvenile justice, community and school settings.

One-day Restorative Justice Circle Immersion Workshop

This workshop introduces the philosophy and practice of peacemaking circles. Peacemaking circles are used in education, juvenile justice, and community settings to deal with discipline in schools, provide organizational and community support, and facilitate check-ins and difficult conversations. These workshops are appropriate for teachers, staff of community organizations, juvenile justice practitioners, youth, and community residents.

Two-day Team Building and Restorative Justice Workshops

This workshop focuses on team building for school staffs, community partners, organizational members, and juvenile justice practitioners. The workshop includes icebreakers, kinesthetic activities and art projects using the circle format throughout. The workshop goal is to help foster community building among participants and further familiarize them with circle process.

Four-day Peacemaking Circle Keeper Training

This experiential four-day training prepares individuals to facilitate conflict circles in the community, schools and juvenile court settings. 4-day trainings engage participants in the fundamental elements of peacemaking circles including sharing stories, building relationships, creating safe spaces, exploring shared values and developing consensus. While shorter trainings may prepare participants to facilitate talking, check-in and celebration circles, we believe the depth of experience across four days is necessary to prepare participants to keep circles around conflict and situations involving serious emotions.

Coaching and Support to Circle Keepers Workshops

These workshops provide a space for trained circle keepers to share stories and experiences, support one another, and participate in peer-to-peer feedback and problem-solving around challenges they face in keeping circles. CJYI staff also provides support and feedback and works with new circle-keepers to think through introducing and implementing circles in different contexts.

Circle Facilitation

In addition to training and technical support, CJYI staff facilitate peacemaking circles to promote healing, resolve conflicts and provide space for difficult conversations.
